Meet The Team

Harry:Spinks Farriery Dorset

I established Harry Spinks Farrier Ltd after working and training up in Oxfordshire. I completed my modern apprenticeship in farriery in November 2014 and qualified on January 1st 2015. I spent the time working with Ben Benson AWCF, (Olympic farrier and one of the farriers on the World Class program) and in that time I built up the skills and abilities to successfully shoe horses for any discipline or work load that they may be doing.

My continued work with Ben after completing my apprenticeship allowed me to consolidate and improve my skills and in particular my interest in modern materials and techniques.

During my professional career I have been fortunate enough to work on many world class horses in a range of disciplines which has allowed me to have the ability to adapt my shoeing style to compliment the work the horse is doing in relation to its conformation. As well as this I am well versed in the use of modern materials and foot repair, with a particular interest in both competition horses and remedial shoeing.

Whilst CPD is not a requirement for Farriers, I am always keen to continue learning and developing, and therefore regularly attend events and seminars to continue my professional development. I also thoroughly enjoy giving talks and demos whether for local riding clubs or more professional organisations.

I have an active Instagram and Facebook page which show the wide range of horses and techniques I deal with every day.

Molly:IMG_0775

Molly is an integral part of the team, now that she is in semi-retirement (at 5!) she works in the back room making sure that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. She has a variety of jobs, including, but not limited to hoover, chief ball and stick finder and generally trying to be played with as much as possible!

Mabel is the team’s human/dog liaison and quality control officer. Her job includes looking cute, guarding the van and making sure that Harry does his job correctly. She is partial to any food that may have been left lying around.
